A Winge about Work and a Wedding

Been a while since I posted in here. Thought I would procrastinate from work as it is stoooooooooooopid and write some stuff. Myspace and facebook and hotmail don't work from work, they are banned... but livejournal works, so yay!

The Company I work for was bought by QBE and took half the staff across. I was a part of that but I am starting to wish I wasn't. It hasn't been organised at all and I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing with a lot of things. Aside from that, I think I am starting to get very bored and tired of the whole insurance business anyway. I have been fantasising a lot lately about what I could and would rather be doing instead. I think I am just sick of the corporate world. I don't think I was ever designed to be a big business type person. Alas, I just kind of fell into Insurance and don't know how to do anything else. Will see what kind of other plans I can come up with next year.

Enough about work. In other news, I am ridiculously happy in my relationship with Owen at the moment. It's never felt so right as it does with him. We are going away together for 3 weeks at the end of the year on a road trip to Adelaide (his home town). I am looking forward to that :) He met my parents on the weekend as they were down for my brothers wedding. They seemed to really like him, so yay! My 10 year old cousin seemed to like him as well. I think she had a crush :p

My brothers wedding on the weekend was heaps of fun! I had a blast. Seeing Paul and Renee together makes me happy as they are just meant to be together. I think anyone that sees them would know that. I liked the seating arrangements at the reception as well. Could just turn around in my chair and see some cool people. Some experiments with Balloons went on as well. The winery that they had the reception at was lovely and the staff were very helpful. Owen and I stayed there Friday and Saturday night. I loved the breakfast that was included... especially enjoyed it on Sunday morning after maybe 1 or 2 too many wines the night before :p

I have also become a little bit addicted to World of Warcraft and am currently a level 29 Blood Elf Paladin. Owen just reached level 70 so I have a lot of catching up to do. We danced together last night on a Zeppelin but then got disconnected for upgrading. Alas.

Well, I am going to get a cup of coffee now and try to continue in this joke that is called work.

I have been well... ok, that’s a lie. I have had a nasty cold. I had a couple of days off work this week because of it. It made my ears feel funny and my head was all blocked up and I felt like someone had sucked the life out of me with a big life sucking machine. I blamed the ears feeling funny on ear monsters. I named the one in my left ear Larry.

Other than the whole sick thing, I have been well :) Things are still going strong with Owen and I am still unbelievably happy. As tempting as it is and as much as I am, I wont start to gush in here about how in love I am. I met a few of his friends the other week for a game of texas hold ‘em poker where is was $20 to play. I was rather proud of myself that I wasn’t out first! I was out second... but that’s beside the point :p Owen ended up winning! Hazzah!!! (he gave me my $20 back :p) Oh and shouted pizza :)

Oh, and also in relation to Owen, it turns out it is a really small world. I found out that I was at the same party that him and his sister were at in Canberra a bit over a year ago. I have a photo of him on my computer from that party and I have a photo of me with his sister because we got on pretty well at that party. It spun me out a bit. Can't believe I've had a photo of him in my computer for over a year and that I've already met his sister who he talks really highly of and was keen for me to meet.

Also! I bought tickets this morning to Marilyn Manson. That is very exciting :) I am really looking forward to it. Bring on October 6th! Ok... I won’t wish the year away that quickly. There are many more exciting things to happen before October 6th. Like my brothers wedding on the 29th of Sep! This year rocks so far :)

Also, a week from now, I will be on holidays in Melbourne! Yay for holidays! And yay for seeing Nicole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*bounces around a bit*

I have a new boy named Owen. He is fantastic. I have a really good feeling about this one. I really do. That’s all I am going to say or else I may start to get all gushy :p

Work has been busy being June and all. Will be happy at the end of it when we get to celebrate and have dinner and drinks on the company. Woo!

I have a new pet at work… it’s a small black pom pom with one eye and his name is Blomp. He is well behaved and rather well trained. He hasn’t peed on the computer or anything yet.

I recommended the place on Surfers if they happened to go that way in their travels :p They were lovely company. They saw me sitting at a table by myself and invited me to hang out with them.

Phil came over to Blink for a while for a dance too!

Also met a friendly Irishman that I danced with the the wee hours of the morning.

I love that place.
After having a bit of a break from it, I have become addicted to Kingdom Hearts II again. It may be due to the fact that I saw in the store that Final Fantasy XII was being released in Feb. I now need to finish playing Kingdom Hearts II to justify buying and playing FFXII as soon as it comes out. It’s all very exciting for me :)

I cleaned out my cupboard recently and had three black garbage bags full of rubbish and 2 black garbage bags full of clothes to put in a clothing bin somewhere. It’s so much easier to look for my clothes in the cupboard now. I need to slap myself on the wrist if I find myself opening the cupboard to throw random stuff on the floor in there. I also have enough room to hide in the cupboard if I so choose to or I could tie someone up and leave them in there.

My nose is a little itchy.

Name Tags

I went to a Christmas function last night. There were name tags. Now as far as my understanding goes, the usual spot for a name tag is to put it on your chest. I usually choose over on the left hand side. I have now learnt that there are only so many times you can listen to “I want to look at you name but don’t want to get in trouble for staring at your boobs” usually followed by some sort of demonstration of the looking at the boobs with a “see, like this”. Apparently that is the most HILARIOUS ice breaker ever. I decided to move my name tag right up to the top of my shoulder which did look a tad silly but I was a lot happier with the positioning. After this, some guy nearly ripped my shirt by trying to grab my name tag off my shoulder. Did he know there was a pin attaching it to my shirt? I felt like stabbing him some place unpleasant with used skewers left over from the minted lamb kebabs. I saw a girl walking around a while later wearing about 8 name tags and decided I must have missed out on some kind of game to see who can acquire the most name tags.

Anyway, there was an open bar so I drank myself silly to a ridiculous hour of the morning, came home in a cab, slept for 2 hours and then got up for work.

Letters, bike, an arse and a corner

Hmmm, what has been happening with me lately. I have not received any replies yet from my letters that I sent to Red Rock Deli and Devils Lair. I must think of a few more places to write to.

I dusted off my bike the other day and went for a little ride down the road. I't was a nice place I went riding. They have wide bike paths and lots of trees and grass and some ponds with ducks in them and lots of toys that look like they would be fun to play on after a couple of drinks.

I won't be seeing that guy again that I mentioned I went out with a couple of times. Got a message from him saying he wanted to meet for a drink but had met someone he would rather not cheat on so no naughty stuff. I decided to decline the offer of a drink.

I have recently become addicted to myspace: http://www.myspace.com/brendas_corner

When I made the name, I meant corner as in my place or area. Thinking about it now, I hope it doesn't sounds like I'm some hooker on a corner :p

Hmmm, now what have I been up to...

I went out Tuesday night and saw that guy again that I met up with the other Thursday. Had a good time again, so that was nice :)

I went swimming last night with Sam. There are some muscles that are rather sore today because of that! My poor unfit body. Swimming was fun though and I like bobbing up and down in the waves in the wave pool.

Today I have been feeling rather restless at work... not sure why. I’m just not in a very worky mood and keep procrastinating from doing things.

The new and exciting gazebo that we have has been holding up against the strong wind rather well. I am very proud of it. It needs to be rewarded with a name for its hard work. Poor nameless gazebo.

Don't feel so crash hot today...... Silly wine. Had a nice day yesterday for Melb cup though. We did a thing at work where everybody bought in a dish. Of course everyone bought too much so we have enough to feed the office until the end of the week :p

It would probably be a good idea in the future to say no to countless amounts of wine and champagne top ups... and not to decide that the bottle and a half of wine your boss puts in your bag absolutely needs drinking that night around at a work friends house :p Yes... very good points to remember for the future. The banquet of food should have at least soaked some of it up! Ahh well.

I came first in one of the $1 sweeps at work and second in the $2 and I got my money back from the $5 because my horse came last. That was all pretty exciting.

I'm going to sit on the couch now and try to drink some water.
